Physical Therapy Services

Manual Therapy:

A clinical approach utilizing skilled, specific hands-on techniques, including but not limited to manipulation/mobilization, used by a physical therapist to diagnose and treat soft tissues and joint structures for the purpose of modulating pain; increasing range of motion (ROM); reducing or eliminating soft tissue inflammation; inducing relaxation; improving contractile and non-contractile tissue repair, extensibility, and/or stability; facilitating movement; and improving function. (Stanley Paris, Foundations of Clinical Orthopedics, 1999).

Therapeutic Exercise:

Therapeutic exercise is the organized execution of planned physical movements, postures, or activities designed to: remediate or avoid impairments; enhance function; and enhance fitness and well-being. (American Physical Therapy Association. Guide to Physical Therapist Practice. 2nd ed.)

Modalities:

Physical therapists use a variety of modalities to help treat their patients. There are a variety of treatment modalities that can help strengthen, relax, and heal muscles. Electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis and hot/cold packs are a few of the treatment modalities we use in our daily practice.

Patient Education:

Our physical therapists educate our patients on their diagnosis and prognosis throughout the treatment process. Our goal is for you to understand your injury or concern so you can fully recover and stay healthy for years to come. All of our patients are discharged with an exercise program to complete at home. Many of our patients choose to join our gym or work with a personal trainer because our physical therapists work directly with the trainers to personalize your workout to your specific needs.

F.C.E. -Functional Capacity Evaluations:

An F.C.E. is a complete evaluation of one's overall functional abilities. It measures range of motion, strength, endurance, and tolerances to work-related tasks. This evaluation allows us to determine one’s ability to fulfill their required job duties. F.C.E.'s are typically ordered by lawyers, doctors, case managers and employers.

P.O.S. -Post Offer Screen:

A P.O.S. is designed with the employer to decide if an applicant for employment is physically able to perform the requirements of the job. This information allows the employer to place applicants in the most physically suitable job while minimizing the risk of injury.
