Athletic Training

Performance Therapies, P.C. provides athletic training services to several area high schools. Our mission at performance therapies is to provide the highest level of skilled and dependable care to injured athletes on and off the field.  Our trainers will be the resource to schools, coaches, athletic directors, parents, and athletes on proper injury rehabilitation, training protocols and injury prevention strategies.  Injured athletes will be treated so that they may return to participation as quickly and as safely as possible. Open lines of communication will be maintained with parents, coaches, and other health professionals throughout the athlete’s rehabilitation.  Performance Therapies, P.C. Athletic Trainers go above and beyond standard expectations in everything we do.
Below are some of the services you can expect at no extra charge when you choose Performance Therapies, P.C. to provide your athletic training coverage.
  • Qualified Personnel.  All of our Athletic Trainers are certified and licensed.  Many are also licensed physical therapists and strength and conditioning specialists.
  • Personalized Service.  You choose the sports you want coverage for.  We will work with you to customize your contract to your needs.  We can cover as many or as few events as you choose.
  • Coach’s Clinics.  We can present in-services to your coaching staff on common sports injuries and review taping techniques.  We are approved by the State of Iowa to provide continuing education hours towards coaching certificates.
  • Free Athlete Screens.  At any time of the year your athletes can call either of our clinics and schedule a free injury screen.  Your athlete will be seen within 24 hours of calling and be evaluated by a licensed physical therapist.
  • Free Saturday Screens.  During the fall sports season our clinics are open to walk-in’s on Saturday mornings.  A licensed physical therapist, athletic trainer, and/or orthopedic physician will evaluate injuries and provide recommendations for treatment.
  • Injury Tracking Statistics.  All injuries evaluated by a Performance Therapies, P.C. staff member are entered into SportsWare 2006, an injury tracking software.  At the end of each season we can easily generate reports on injury frequency and injury type.  This data can be used to determine injury patterns in your athletes.  We can then recommend strategies to prevent these injuries and keep your athletes on the field.
  • Inventory Assistance.  Each school is expected to provide their own tape and other supplies.  We would be happy to assist your athletic director in developing a medical supply list that fits your budget.
  • Emergency Plan.  Being prepared for anything is an athletic trainer’s motto.  If one is not already in place, we can assist your athletic department in developing an emergency plan so everyone knows their role in the event of an emergency.
